I'm new to slow feeding — is the Poly Ring a good place to start?

It's one of the best starting points. The ring keeps hay contained and reduces the waste that comes with loose feeding, and once you've got the ring in place you can add NAG Bag netting to slow consumption further. Start with a 2" mesh netting if you're not sure — it's the most versatile size for most horses. \

What's the difference between buying individual panels versus a complete feeder?

The complete feeder comes ready to go with all the panels you need for a specific bale size. Individual panels are for people who need to replace a damaged section, expand an existing ring, or build a custom corner feeder setup. If you're starting from scratch, the complete feeder is usually the easier route. \

Will the panels hold up through a Canadian winter?

Yes. The UV-stabilized HDPE construction is built specifically for outdoor year-round use. Cold temperatures, ice, and snow won't crack or warp these panels the way they can with lower-grade plastics or metal feeders. \

Can these be used for cattle as well as horses?

Absolutely. The Poly Ring works well for cattle, and the 2.75" NAG Bag netting option is particularly popular for large breeds and cows where the goal is keeping hay in the feeder rather than slowing consumption aggressively. \

How tall is each panel and will it contain hay properly?

Each panel is 32 inches tall. That height is enough to keep round bale hay contained for horses and cattle without the hay pulling out over the top during normal feeding. \

I already have a ring but one panel cracked — can I just replace that one section?

That's exactly what individual panel sales are for. As long as your existing panels are the same AGI Poly Ring system, a replacement panel will fit right in. If you're unsure about compatibility, give us a call and we can confirm before you order. \

Can I order multiple panels to build rings of different sizes at different times?

Yes — you can buy as many individual panels as you need. Some customers keep a spare on hand for exactly that reason. There's no minimum order requirement on individual panels. \

What mesh size should I use with the Poly Ring netting?

For most horses, 1.5" or 2" mesh is the right starting point. Easy keepers and horses that bolt their hay do well with 1.5". Working horses, hard keepers, and animals that need higher forage access generally do better with 2" or 2.75". When in doubt, start with 2" — it's the most forgiving size across different hay types and animals. \

Is there any safety concern with horses pawing at the panels?

The rounded, smooth edges of the HDPE panels eliminate the sharp edge hazard you get with metal feeders over time. For horses that paw heavily, placing the netting lower in the ring and positioning the ring in a corner can help discourage pawing behavior. \

Can I use the Poly Ring panels indoors in a stall?

One panel used as a corner feeder works very well in a stall. For a full ring setup indoors, you'd need a stall large enough to accommodate the diameter — typically a 12x12 or larger. Most stall setups work best with a single corner panel or the complete feeder placed against a wall. \
