WHOA Dust® Arena Dust Suppressant15 kg, Indoor & Outdoor
Description
Not a salt. Not an oil. A binder. WHOA Dust® charges the fine dust particles in your footing so they link together and settle back into the surface instead of hanging in the air. Because the fines stay put, the water you do add stays longer. One 15 kg pail treats a standard 80 × 160 arena, lasts up to 16 months, and cuts watering by 50–75%. Apply it yourself in under two hours with a broadcast spreader.

Who it is for
Boarding and lesson barns whose clients notice the air before the footing. Indoor arenas that close up for the winter. Anyone with a horse that coughs at the end of a ride. Owners who are tired of dragging a hose every evening.
What it works on
Sand mixes, crusher dust, hog fuel, rubber crumb, GGT blends and native soil. If your footing is worn down to powder it still helps, but you will also need to top up sand. Send us a photo of your footing and we will tell you straight.
Safety
100% biodegradable, non-toxic, non-corrosive. Safety-certified for use around horses, dogs and people. No chlorides.
Every order ships from Sherwood Park, Alberta with a custom application guide for your arena size and footing. Use the coverage calculator below to work out how many pails you need. 5% off two pails, 10% off four.
How to Use
WHOA Dust works through flocculation — it charges the fine dust particles in your footing so they bind together and settle back into the surface instead of becoming airborne. Application is footing- and arena-size specific, which is why every order includes a custom application guide tailored to your exact arena dimensions and footing type before you apply anything.
In general: the product is spread across the footing and worked in, then watered to activate. One treatment typically lasts up to 16 months. If you haven't ordered yet and want help sizing the right quantity for your arena, call us before you buy — we'll walk through your footing type and dimensions with you.
Frequently Asked Questions
Treats the cause, not the symptom
We treat our own arena with this. Here's what actually matters after a full season of riding on it — not marketing points, real ones.
It Works on Physics, Not Harsh Chemicals
WHOA Dust uses flocculation — a proven science that charges neutral dust particles to a negative state, causing them to link together, get heavier, and drop back into the footing where they belong. No leaching, no binding agents that lock up your surface over time, no harsh residue. Just footing that behaves the way it's supposed to.
One Treatment Goes a Long Way
A single 15 kg container treats most standard arenas and lasts up to 16 months. You'll spend less time watering, less time dragging, and less time worrying about dust clouds during your rides. Most arenas come in well under $500 total — and that covers you for over a year.
Works With What You Already Have
It doesn't matter what your footing is made of. WHOA Dust has been proven in arenas with crusher dust, hog fuel, GGT designer blends, rubber crumb, sand mixes, and native soil. It works with your existing material, not against it — and it's compatible with footing additives you may already be using.
Handles Whatever the Weather Throws at It
Outdoor arena? It won't wash out in the rain. Cold-climate barn? Owners across Canada report consistent footing through freeze-thaw cycles that used to wreck their surface. WHOA Dust has been tested in arenas across North America in all kinds of conditions — it holds up.
Application Takes Under Two Hours
You don't need specialty equipment or a contractor. Prep the footing, spread the product, groom it in, water it down. The whole job takes less than two hours on most arenas, and you can ride the same day. Every order comes with a custom application guide so you know exactly what to do for your specific setup.
Under two hours, no special equipment
Every order includes a custom application guide for your arena size and footing type. The short version:
Prep the footing
Lightly water dry footing first — it needs a little moisture to activate. Groom the top 1–1.5" with a diamond harrow flipped upside down. Don't go deeper than 1.5".
Apply, groom, apply
Spread evenly, groom it into the top layer, then make a second pass. The double application gives even distribution and better activation throughout.
Water, wait, ride
Water thoroughly once it's worked in. You can ride the same day, but 12–24 hours gives the best long-term result as it fully activates.
How much you'll need
Enter your arena and we'll work out the initial amount, how many 15 kg pails that is, and roughly how long it lasts before you reorder.
We'll nudge you when it's time to reapply — about every 3 months — so your footing never backslides. No spam, just the reminder.
Barn owners on WHOA Dust
Collected from WHOA Dust customers across Canada.
My arena's watering requirements dropped from daily to once every two to three weeks. I'm definitely a fan.
Not only did we see elimination in dust, but the footing dramatically improved. It has reduced watering from every 2 days to once every 2 weeks.
Within minutes it started to work, transforming my dusty dry arena into a moist sand. I now water a 1/3 of what I used to.
This winter was the easiest winter we have had in terms of arena maintenance. The footing stayed moist and consistent.
Effective in our indoor arena and outdoors in both our sand competition ring as well as our silica GGT ring.
The most amazing treatment I bought for my arena. It is by far worth its weight in gold!
