Properly bedded rubber mats generally support hoof health better than bare concrete because they reduce hard-surface impact and provide a more stable base. The key is keeping bedding clean and dry on top — moisture sitting against the hoof is the real concern, regardless of what's underneath. \

How do these compare to foam or EVA stall mats?

Rubber mats are significantly more durable and hold up better to the day-to-day of a working stall — pawing, scraping, heavy weight, and cleaning equipment. Foam and EVA products are lighter and easier to install, but they compress faster and don't last as long under regular barn use. \

Will these mats get slippery when wet?

The flat rubber surface provides good traction under normal barn conditions. In a wash bay or any area with consistent water exposure, make sure the underlying floor drains properly — water pooling on top of any smooth surface increases slip risk. For high-moisture areas, a dome or textured surface mat may be worth considering. \
