Every horse finds a way to hurt itself. Scrapes off the fence line, blanket rubs, scratches that won't quit, a pink nose that burns every July — if you've owned horses longer than a season, you've got a shelf of half-used products that promised to fix all of it. Most of them are either greasy messes that trap dirt or harsh formulas you'd rather not put on broken skin.

FAB Skin Repair is our own formula, and it's the one we actually reach for at our barn. It's a natural oil built around tissue repair — anti-inflammatory, naturally disinfecting, and gentle enough for sensitive or already-irritated skin. It goes on thin and absorbs in, so it doesn't collect grit the way heavy ointments do, and it supports the skin's own healing instead of just sitting on top of it. It also doubles as sun protection for pale noses and white markings.

It comes in four sizes: the 60 ml fits in a tack box or trailer kit, and the 1 litre lives in the barn for the horse that's always into something. Natural ingredients only — nothing you'd worry about washing off into your paddock.

1. Clean the area first — brush away dirt and debris, and rinse if the skin is broken. Pat dry.
2. Apply a thin layer over the affected area, once or twice daily. A little goes a long way; it should absorb in rather than sit shiny on the surface.
3. For sun protection, apply to pink noses and white markings in the morning before turnout, and reapply after washing or heavy sweating.
4. Continue daily until the skin has fully recovered — consistency matters more than quantity.

When to call your vet: Deep wounds, puncture wounds, anything near the eye, or skin conditions that spread or worsen after several days of care should be seen by your veterinarian. This is a skin-support product, not a substitute for treatment of serious injuries.
