Description

Poulticing is one of those jobs where the supplies matter more than anyone admits. A pad that breeds bacteria under a wrap, holds odor, or falls apart when wet doesn't just make the job unpleasant — it works against the healing you're wrapping for in the first place.

Our Silver Poultice Pads are infused with SmartSilver® antimicrobial technology — the same silver-based protection used in health care and medical textiles. The silver is integrated into the pad's fibres, not sprayed on, so it lasts the life of the pad: controlling the growth of odor-causing bacteria, fungus, and mold under the wrap for as long as it's on the leg or hoof. The pads are non-medicated and non-sterile, which means they layer cleanly with whatever treatment protocol you or your vet prefer — they bring the antimicrobial protection and let you choose what goes with it.

They come in a 3-pack for the first-aid kit and a 10-pack for barns that go through them. Alongside our EquiCrown wraps and VetKinTape, they round out the recovery shelf the way vets and seasoned owners actually stock it.

How to Use
  1. Clean the area first — rinse away dirt and debris and pat dry.
  2. Use the pad dry, or wet it according to your usual poultice routine; it can also be layered over a vet-prescribed treatment.
  3. Place the pad directly against the site — leg, sole, or wound area.
  4. Secure with a standing wrap, hoof wrap, or bandage as you normally would.
  5. Change the pad at each wrap change, or as directed by your veterinarian.
  6. Dispose after use — pads are single-use.

When to call your vet: Deep wounds, punctures, significant swelling, or any site that worsens between changes should be seen by your veterinarian. These pads support a clean healing environment — they are not a treatment for serious injury.

Size Guide

Silver Poultice Pads come in two pack sizes:

3 Pack — Good for trying the pads out, or for a barn that only poultices occasionally.

10 Pack — The practical size once poulticing becomes a regular part of your first-aid or hoof-care routine — one pad per treatment adds up fast.

If you're already treating an abscess, a wound that needs ongoing care, or doing routine hoof maintenance, the 10 Pack works out to a lower cost per pad.

WHAT MAKES IT WORTH IT

Why it's built different

We keep this on our own barn shelf. Here's what actually matters when you're using it on a real horse on a real morning — not marketing points, real ones.

Silver Built Into the Fibre, Not Sprayed On

Plenty of products advertise antimicrobial treatments that wash out after the first use. SmartSilver® is integrated into the pad's material itself, so the protection lasts the expected life of the product — every hour it's under the wrap, it's working.

Fights the Warm-and-Damp Problem

The environment under a poultice wrap — warm, damp, sealed — is exactly where bacteria, fungus, and mold thrive. Silver's natural antimicrobial action controls that growth at the source, so the site under the wrap stays cleaner between changes.

Non-Medicated Means Your Protocol Wins

Because the pads are non-medicated and non-sterile, they don't fight with whatever your vet has prescribed or whatever poultice recipe you trust. Use them dry, wet, or with your treatment of choice — the silver protection comes along either way.

Proven Technology, Not a Barn Gimmick

SmartSilver® has a track record in health care, textile, and industrial applications, is thoroughly tested, eco-friendly, and meets regulatory requirements. We didn't invent the silver story — we just brought the real version of it to the barn.

Stocked the Way Barns Actually Use Them

One horse, occasional use? The 3-pack lives in the first-aid kit. A busy barn where someone's always wrapping something? The 10-pack keeps you from running out on a Sunday night — which is, of course, when you'd need one.

Not one pound of feed wasted

These feeders are amazing! There is not one pound of feed wasted. We are no longer wasting 20 to 30 percent of a bale. One person can change out the bale. There is absolutely no downside to these feeders.

Best product yet

I absolutely love the bagged straw. No smell in the barn this morning. Only 15 minutes to muck out our 36-stall barn with only one tractor tow-behind cart versus two. Thank you for all your help.
