Usually this comes down to mesh size or the introduction process. If your horse is struggling to pull hay through, move up one mesh size. If they're eating too fast and finishing too quickly, try a smaller mesh. Give it at least a week before making a judgment — horses often need a few days to figure out the rhythm. \

Can I use this with shod horses?

Yes, but placement matters. The net should be used inside a feeder, tub, or hay ring — not hung or placed where a shod horse could paw at it and catch a shoe in the netting. Keeping the net low and inside the feeder is also better for your horse's neck and posture during feeding. \

What's the difference between a Net Topper and a regular NAG Bag hanging bag?

What happens when the bale runs out — does the net just sit empty?

The net will slacken as the bale is consumed, which is normal. Once the bale is done, shake the net out, and load the next bale. \
